My Philosophy

As a licensed psychologist, I am dedicated to the promotion of optimal health in body, mind, and spirit throughout the lifespan for individuals, couples, families, groups, and organizations.

Mental health is much like physical health, dynamic and everchanging. Everyone, I know, including myself, has times over the lifespan when we are in some kind of transition or faced with some kind of life challenge. At times we are mentally strong and balanced. At other times, we may need help to heal, recover, or improve our mental stability. During these times we may benefit by having an objective, professional mental health consultant to serve as a facilitator and/or a guide.

My consultation and guidance may take the form of individual counseling, couples therapy, or group psychoeducational programs. Each person has unique and specific needs, therefore I offer an eclectic and integrative approach to best serve the special circumstances of my clients. Some of the methods I specialize in are cognitive-behavioral (left-brained, problem-solving) therapy, expressive (right-brained imaging and creative) therapies, hypnotherapy, and bi-lateral-alternating stimulation eye movement (EMDR) therapy.

Over the 30 years of my career, I have been trained in many specific techniques that I use as appropriate; however, I continue to believe in and rely on establishing a basic relational therapeutic alliance with my clients so that we can work together to determine the best avenues for their healing.

My goals are:

To assist individuals, couples, families, and organizations in improving their quality of life by healing old wounds, engaging in healthy behaviors, building authentic relationships, and enhancing environments within the home, at work, and on the planet.
